We have two yurts - both very similar in size and both offering a perfect balance of luxury and rustic holiday accommodation. Our yurts are based on the traditional Mongolian 'bentwood' design, and have each been handcrafted by ourselves. We coppice the wood locally, shaping each pole using traditional hand tools then steam bending them using a basic wood-fired steamer. The frames are covered with a thick canvas 'skin' and fitted with a woodburning stove, groundsheet, carpets and furniture. To add to the magic, the yurts are lit at night by solar powered fairy lights and tea light lanterns. We hope you will love staying in your yurt as much as we loved making it!
Barn Owl Yurt
16′ diameter – sleeps 2-4
Barn Owl is a delicate yurt – handcrafted from specially chosen characterful wood. The many twists and bends in the wood give it a very romantic and magical feel.
The yurt is fitted with a beautiful woodburner which has been handmade from almost entirely recycled materials. Solar fairy lights and tea light lanterns sparkle at night for a warm glow and a cosy feel.
Perfect for couples – this yurt has a rustic 4-poster bed (extra single futons can be added for a 3rd or 4th guest if required), washstand with jug & bowl, and lots of rugs for lounging about in front of the woodburning stove. A small kitchen cupboard and a camping gas stove allow you to cook or just make a cup of tea without having to leave the yurt, plus a small table and two stools.
The raised deck which Barn Owl yurt sits upon is extended to form an outdoor seating area with rustic balustrade and two chairs handmade from reclaimed wood – the perfect spot to catch the early morning sun. In front of the yurt is a private grassed area with a BBQ.

‘Barn Owl Yurt’ is named after the barn owl which can be seen flying across the field behind the yurt most evenings. For every night this yurt is occupied, we will donate £1 to Suffolk Wildlife Trust’s Suffolk Community Barn Owl Project. 'Dragonfly Yurt' supports The Suffolk Foundation in the same way.
Many thanks to Toby Fairlove (www.tfairloveyurts.co.uk) – a superb yurt maker who taught us how to make our yurts using traditional handtools.
