We have two yurts - both very similar in size and both offering a perfect balance of luxury and rustic holiday accommodation. Our yurts are based on the traditional Mongolian 'bentwood' design, and have each been handcrafted by ourselves. We coppice the wood locally, shaping each pole using traditional hand tools then steam bending them using a basic wood-fired steamer. The frames are covered with a thick canvas 'skin' and fitted with a woodburning stove, groundsheet, carpets and furniture. To add to the magic, the yurts are lit at night by solar powered fairy lights and tea light lanterns. We hope you will love staying in your yurt as much as we loved making it!
16′ diameter – sleeps 2-5
Dragonfly yurt was built with families in mind so has a much more sturdy feel and is more spacious. Built on site (by us!) entirely from locally coppiced ash & hazel it still has the rustic feel of the other yurt but is less delicate. Dragonfly has a double futon bed with an extra deep futon mattress plus two single futons. An extra single futon can be added for a 5th guest if required.
The yurt is fitted with a beautiful woodburner which has been handmade from almost entirely recycled materials. Solar fairy lights and tea light lanterns sparkle at night for a warm glow and a cosy feel. This yurt has a large table with seating for 4.
Under Dragonfly yurt’s crown hangs an ornamental centrepiece fitted with coloured glass – sprinkling the yurt with colour as the sun moves across it. The yurt’s private seating area, with adult & children’s benches and a BBQ, is perfectly placed to catch the afternoon sun.

'Dragonfly yurt' is named after the many dragonflies we see near the pond. We chose for this yurt to support the Suffolk Community Foundation. This amazing local organisation supports all the smaller charities and needs within Suffolk - providing grants to charities and community groups
