With such an excellent range of days out within a short distance, whether you’re travelling on foot, bike or by car there are lots of options.

So for those of you who want to get out exploring; here are our top suggestions for excellent visits which are reachable by bike from Alde Garden Campsite.

Places which are within a short cycling distance of the campsite:

Easily accessible on a bike, Framlingham is a must-see when staying at Alde Garden.  This quaint little market town has a thriving community with plenty of pubs, independent shops and regular Tuesday & Saturday markets.

Visit the famous Framlingham Castle or take a walk through historical streets or around the mere, home to a raft of wildlife and birds.

Snape Maltings (7miles)

A leisurely 30 minute ride from here (with a short spell on the A12) is Snape Maltings; a great pit-stop on your way to the coast or a perfect destination in itself. Converted maltings buildings house a world-famous concert hall & music centre as well as a unique collection of boutiques, cafés and galleries.

There’s plenty to do and see within the buildings, as well as wonderful walks and vistas around the site. With regular markets and events taking place it’s worth checking out what’s on before planning your visit.

Southwold (16 miles)

The stunning seaside town of Southwold is less than half an hour away from Alde Garden by car, or a little over an hour for a keen cyclist. Here you will find one of Suffolk’s most beloved beaches, famous for it’s brightly coloured beach huts and beautiful views.

Enjoy beach or riverside rambles, walk to the end of the pier or take the traditional rowing-boat ferry across to the equally picturesque Walberswick. Visitors to Southwold can easily spend a day exploring the landscape but also the excellent range of independent shops, bars and artisan eateries.
