the Hideout

Our Hideout is now covered ready for winter.
In our original dreams for the campsite, we’d hoped to build a treehouse. When we bought this place & realised none of the trees were suitable, we had a new idea.
The design for this little hut, which has windows in the roof for stargazing, was based on a similar structure we stayed in whilst travelling in New Zealand. The vinyl records on the roof were added as a result of a freecycle rescue- they were on the way to the tip and we knew we’d find a use for them.
In the early days before the Hideout was built, the space was used as a tiny tent pitch. A camper woke in the night to find a hedgehog in his porch munching his crisps! This was what inspired us to put aside the patch next to the Hideout, adding 3 different hog hotels, just for wildlife
